The best stool consistency hemorrhoid fix is a soft well-formed stool to reduce pain and avoid straining to empty.
Proven natural laxative fixes for hemorrhoid pain and bleeding are psyllium (Metamucil) or sterculia (Normacol)¹.
The best diet for hemorrhoids with constipation is a high fibre diet (vegetables, fruit, high fibre cereals) ². Introduce fibre gradually, not suddenly. If you suffer from diarrhea you may try psyllium husks, Immodium and foods to firm the stool (low fibre cereals, mashed potato, cheese and bananas).
Safe exercises to choose to relieve hemorrhoids are low impact exercises. Avoid high impact exercises like running or jumping. Choose pelvic floor friendly strength training gym exercises while active hemorrhoids. Reduce the load of your weights and avoid deep squats with active hemorrhoids.
The best over the counter ointments for hemorrhoids include Anusol, Preparation H or Rectogesic to relieve hemorrhoid pain. Preparation H shrinks hemorrhoids and relieves hemorrhoid pain.
Wipe and clean hemorrhoids using wet wipes rather than tissue paper which can be abrasive. Wet wipes can relieve hemorrhoid pain and reduce soiling with external hemorrhoids.
Warm sitz baths (warm water) can provide immediate pain relief and clean hemorrhoids. The ideal bath temperature is 37-39°C or 100° F for 3 minutes to relieve hemorrhoid pain.
